Since it was introduced around 2015, the Puppuccino from Starbucks has skyrocketed in notoriety and popularity. Don’t believe me? Check Twitter or Instagram and you’ll be sure to find hundreds if not thousands of adorable photos of pups enjoying this tasty treat!
Not being a Starbucks regular myself, I didn’t hear about the Puppuccino from Starbucks until just this year. Now I have an excuse to visit a bit more often and so do you!
What is a Puppuccino?
Also known as a Starbucks Pup Cup, a Puppuccino is a dog friendly “drink” on the Starbucks Secret Menu. All that means is that, while you won’t find it on any written menu at Starbucks, you can order it by name and the barista will know exactly what you want.
Starbucks Puppuccino Ingredients
The first question in the minds of most dog owners will surely be “is the Starbucks Puppuccino Safe?” I was curious about this too before I went for the first time. Luckily for us, it absolutely is!
Puppuccinos from Starbucks are simply espresso cups filled with whipped cream. That’s it! While it’s obviously not the healthiest thing in the world, you shouldn’t worry about letting your pup indulge occasionally. Especially if it’s in the name of a cute photo shoot!
Keep in mind that some dogs, like humans, can be sensitive to dairy products. If you’re unsure, keep an eye out for diarrhea afterwards.
For those interested, we can break down the Starbucks Puppuccino Ingredients based even further. The whipped cream contains: cream, milk, mono and diglycerides, and carrageenan.
We can also estimate the Starbucks Puppuccino Nutrition Facts:

Starbucks Puppuccino Cost
While dogs certainly can put a strain on our wallets, the Puppuccino from Starbucks does not! Order anything off their menu and they’ll be happy to give you one for free! While this may entice us to consume Starbucks’ arguably overpriced beverages a tad too often, if you already drink there regularly you won’t feel any impact on your wallet.
How to Order a Puppuccino
To order a puppuccino, you simply have to ask for it at the counter or drive-through window when you place the rest of your order. Because the Starbucks pup cup is a “secret menu” item, you aren’t able to order it in advance on the Starbucks app. If you choose to use the app, simply ask for it when you pick up your order.
Starbucks Pup Cup Alternatives
Puppuccinos are a fun, occasional treat to get when you are out and about with your furry friend. However, they’re not healthy enough to give them regularly and it probably wouldn’t be super convenient to do so anyway.
