Mini Saint Berdoodle Size Full Grown

The smaller of the two types is the Miniature Saint Berdoodle. The Mini Saint Berdoodle size comes from breeding a Miniature Poodle to a Saint Bernard.

The Mini Poodle stands around 11-14 inches in height and weighs around between 12 and 20 pounds.  The Saint Bernard is a much larger working dog that will commonly weigh between 130 to 180 pounds and stand 25-28 inches tall.

How Big Do Mini Saint Berdoodles Get?

How big do Mini Saint Berdoodles get?  A full grown Mini Saint Berdoodle will average 18-22 inches in height and can weigh between 35-70 pounds. That’s quite a wide range!

This wide range is due to the large size difference of the two breeds that go into creating the Mini Saint Berdoodle size. Be mindful of irresponsible doodle breeders who prioritize size over health. Also be warned that some may even mix breeds such as the Cocker Spaniel or the Aussiedoodle to get a smaller sized dog.

A red flag is a breeder that advertise their Saint Berdoodles as  “Toy” or “Teacup.” While the terminology alone doesn’t necessarily indicate poor breeding practices, it is commonly used amongst irresponsible breeders.

The potential of poor breeding practices is just one of many reasons you should consider pet insurance throughout the lifetime of any dog you bring into your family.

Standard Saint Berdoodle Size Full Grown

The Standard Saint Berdoodle size is larger than their Mini Saint Berdoodle buddies. To get a larger sized dog, one parent will be a Standard Poodle.

The Standard Poodle is anywhere between 18 and 24 inches in height and weighs between 45 and 70 pounds.  The other parent is the larger Saint Bernard weighing about 130 to 180 pounds and between 25-28 inches in height.

What Impacts the Size of a Saint Berdoodle?

With such a wide range in Saint Berdoodle sizes how can you predict how big your Saint Berdoodle will be when full grown? There are a variety of aspects you will need to consider to make an estimate. Gender, the size of the pup’s parents, and even the generation your dog is can affect the size of your dog.

Gender is one of the first predictors of Saint Berdoodle size. One of the most popular questions potential doodle owners ask is “should I choose a male or a female?” Male Saint Berdoodles are typically a bit larger than the females.

The average male can be about 10% larger than your average female. While not as noticeable in smaller breeds, larger breeds such as the Saint Berdoodle can have a difference of  3-6 inches and between a 10-25 pound difference in weight.

Also consider the size of the parents. The genetics offspring inherit from their parents will likely affect how large they will get as an adult. If either one of the parents was smaller, then their pups have a chance of being smaller. Genetics is not a fool-proof science though, so it is just one piece of the puzzle to consider while trying to estimate how big your puppy will be when full grown.

In general, the least understood element that can affect your dog’s adult size is: which generation of Saint Berdoodle is your dog? A Saint Berdoodle’s “generation” refers to the genetic makeup of your dog, and how close their DNA is to that of a Poodle or Saint Bernard.

Confused? No worries, you’re not alone! Check out our article on various doodle generations for more info.

A Saint Berdoodle that has more Poodle than Saint Bernard might be slightly smaller than a Saint Berdoodle that has more Saint Bernard than Poodle.  Excluding all other criteria that may affect their size the simplest way to put this is: the higher percentage of the smaller dog, the smaller the puppy is likely to be, and vice versa.

When Do Saint Berdoodles Stop Growing?

Your Saint Berdoodle may seem to be constantly growing! But all too soon the days of puppyhood will be over, so don’t waste this special time!  We’ve answered the question, “how big do Saint Berdoodles get?”  But, when do Saint Berdoodles stop growing?

Larger breeds, like your Standard Saint Berdoodle, grow slower over a longer period of time.  You can surmise that your Standard Saint Berdoodle will stop growing around 2 years of age, though a few may continue growing slightly for a bit after.

Mini Saint Berdoodles will typically grow more quickly than the Standard Saint Berdoodles. In general, smaller dogs tend to grow quicker, reaching their full size earlier.  You can expect that by 1 to 1.5 years of age, your Miniature Saint Berdoodle will be done with the majority of their growing.

To get these averages, we once again look at your Saint Berdoodles parents for clues. The Mini Poodle is generally done growing between 6 and 7 months of age, with a few that may continue to grow for about one year.  Standard Poodles take closer to 1.5 to 2 years to finish growing.

St Bernards are a large breed, and you can expect they will take longer to grow.  On average, they take a minimum of 12-18 months.  But many do not fully fill out until closer to 3 years.
