There are two Maltipoo sizes—toy, and miniature.  Read on to find out how big do Maltipoos get, what impacts the size of a Maltipoo, and when do Maltipoos stop growing!

Toy Maltipoo Size Full Grown

The Toy Maltipoo size, also commonly referred to as the Teacup Maltipoo size, is the smaller of the two Maltipoo varieties.  This Toy Maltipoo size is a result of breeding the Toy Poodle and the Maltese.

The Toy Poodle stands around 9-11 inches in height and weighs in between 6 and 9 pounds.  The Maltese is another small breed!  They measure around 8-10 inches in height and weigh around 6-9 pounds.

Mini Maltipoo Size Full Grown

The Mini Maltipoo size is the larger of the two Maltipoo types, but don’t let that fool you, they’re also a relatively small breed.  The mix of the Miniature Poodle and the Maltese results in the Miniature Maltipoo.

The Miniature Poodle is anywhere between 11 to 14 inches in height, and weighs between 12 and 20 pounds.  The Maltese is just slightly smaller, standing an estimated 8 and 10 inches in height and on average weighing between 6 and 9 pounds.

What Impacts the Size of a Maltipoo?

There are so many aspects that contribute to how big your Maltipoo will be when fully grown!  Some of the main components include their gender, the height and weight of the parents, and which generation of Maltipoo your puppy is.

The combination of all of these factors make it somewhat difficult to predict exactly how big your dog will be, but it can help us make an estimate!

First, their gender plays a role in answering the question of how big do Maltipoos get.  Should you pick a male or female Maltipoo?  On average, the size of a male Maltipoo will be slightly larger than a female Maltipoo.  There isn’t a huge difference, but generally females are about 10% smaller.

This is more noticeable in larger breeds like the Mastidoodle or the Rottie Poo, but in smaller breeds such as the Doxiepoo and the Havapoo, the differences will be very small if not negligible.

Another important aspect to consider is the parent’s size.  The genetics that are passed from the parents to their offspring play a role in how large a Maltipoo will get.  It’s more likely than not that if one of the parents was on the smaller side then their offspring may be a little smaller than average as well!

However, genetics are impossible to predict, so this isn’t necessarily the most accurate way to predict how big your puppy will be when full grown.

Finally, which generation of Maltipoo your pup is will be a big part of how big they will get!  A Maltipoo’s “generation” refers to the theoretical genetic makeup of your dog and how close it is to that of a Poodle or a Maltese.

Dog generations can be confusing!  For more information, check out our article on poodle mix generations to learn more! Basically, different generations contain different theoretical percentages of each parent breed’s DNA.

In simple terms, a Maltipoo puppy that has more Poodle than Maltese could be slightly larger than a Maltipoo that has more Maltese than Poodle.  This is because the Poodle is generally a bit larger than the Maltese.

Of course, this is excluding all other contending criteria that may affect a dog’s size.  In simple terms, the higher percentage of the larger dog, the larger the dog is likely to be.

When Do Maltipoos Stop Growing?

You may be hoping your Maltipoo stays adorably tiny forever!  While they won’t stay a puppy forever, this breed will stop growing fairly soon and will remain small!  We’ve answered the question, “how big do Maltipoos get?”  But, when do Maltipoos stop growing?

Both Toy and Mini Poodles take around 6-7 months to finish growing completely.  Malteses take a little longer.  On average, they take 12-15 months to finish growing!

Most Maltipoos take around 8-10 months to reach their full size!  If your pup was bred with a Miniature Poodle as opposed to a Toy Poodle, they might take slightly longer to finish growing.

They would tend to be on the higher end of the scale at around 10-12 months to finish growing because they are slightly larger and have more growing to do than Toy Maltipoos.
